Trichy: Bharathidasan University has planned to provide 50 electrical sanitary napkin incinerators (ESNIs) worth about Rs 21 lakh to schools and colleges. In this connection, the university has signed a memorandum of understanding with BHEL, Trichy.

Medical Waste Solution for Educational institutions

Twenty-five electrical sanitary napkin incinerators were supplied to the identified institutions during the first phase that began last year.

BHEL, under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme, signed an agreement on Thursday with the Bharathidasan University’s NSS WISH (Women Involved in Sanitation and Hygiene) for the provision of 150 ESNIs to schools and colleges with the total project cost of Rs 57.18 lakh in three phases. BHEL would also train and educate students and faculty on using the machines. As most of the students at the government schools are from rural backgrounds, they would be trained through the initiative.
