"In 2016, Zimbabwe had 40 000 (36 000 - 44 000) new HIV infections and 30 000 (25 000 - 35 000) AIDS-related deaths. There were 1 300 000 (1 200 000 - 1 400 000) people living with HIV in 2016, among whom 75% (60% - 87%) were accessing antiretroviral therapy. Among pregnant women living with HIV, 93% (75% - >95%) were accessing treatment or prophylaxis to prevent transmission of HIV to their children. Among people living with HIV, approximately 64% (58% - 71%) had suppressed viral loads.

Among the key populations most affected by HIV in Zimbabwe are:

• Sex workers, with an HIV prevalence of 57.1%.
• Prisoners, with an HIV prevalence of 28%.

Since 2010, new HIV infections have decreased by 49% and AIDS-related deaths have decreased by 45%."
